The List: Media Bloodbath in Covid Times (Synopsis)

'The List: Media Bloodbath in Covid Times', a short movie in Hindi, delves into the theme of massive-scale retrenchment in Indian Media Industry in the wake of the Covid crisis.

Manish, the Resident Editor of Chandigarh edition of English daily 'The Whistle-blower' gets a midnight call from his Editor-in-Chief in Delhi. He is asked to make a list of 15 staffers to be fired soon to "rationalise expenditure".

He finds himself in a moral crisis as he presides over the bloodbath of his subordinates. However, he knows very well that if he fails to do the dirty job, he himself will be on the list.

प्रेमचंद का साहित्य और सिनेमा

-गुलजार हुसैन प्रेमचंद का साहित्य और सिनेमा के विषय पर सोचते हुए मुझे वर्तमान फिल्म इंडस्ट्री के साहित्यिक रुझान और इससे जुड़ी उथल-पुथल को समझने की जरूरत अधिक महसूस होती है। यह किसी से छुपा नहीं है कि पूंजीवादी ताकतों का बहुत प्रभाव हिंदी सहित अन्य भाषाओं की फिल्मों पर है।...और मेरा तो यह मानना है की प्रेमचंदकालीन सिनेमा के दौर की तुलना में यह दौर अधिक भयावह है , लेकिन इसके बावजूद साहित्यिक कृतियों पर आधारित अच्छी फिल्में अब भी बन रही हैं। साहित्यिक कृतियों पर हिंदी भाषा में या फिर इससे इतर अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं में अच्छी फिल्में बन रही हैं , यह एक अलग विषय है लेकिन इतना तो तय है गंभीर साहित्यिक लेखन के लिए अब भी फिल्मी राहों में उतने ही कांटे बिछे हैं , जितने प्रेमचंद युग में थे। हां , स्थितियां बदली हैं और इतनी तो बदल ही गई हैं कि नई पीढ़ी अब स्थितियों को बखूबी समझने का प्रयास कर सके। प्रेमचंद जो उन दिनों देख पा रहे थे वही ' सच ' अब नई पीढ़ी खुली आंखों से देख पा रही है। तो मेरा मानना है कि साहित्यिक कृतियों या साहित्यकारों के योगदान की उपेक्षा हिंदी सिनेम

His temples are sunken, his cheek-bones jut out, but his lush moustache lends a full look to his face. He is wearing canvas shoes and its laces are tied haphazardly. When used carelessly, the metal lace-ends come off and it becomes difficult to insert the laces in the lace-holes. Then, laces are tied any which way. The right shoe is okay but there is a large hole in the left shoe, out of which a toe has emerged. My sight is transfixed on this shoe. (कार्टून : सुहैल नक्शबंदी के आर्काइव से, सौजन्य : एफएससी) (एनडब्ल्यूएमआई-एफएससी रिपोर्ट) कश्मीर में इन्टरनेट शटडाउन कश्मीर के लिए इन्टरनेट शटडाउन कोई अनोखी बात नहीं है और 2012 से 180 बार इसका अनुभव कर चुका है । 4 अगस्त 2019 को मोबाइल और ब्रॉडबैंड इन्टरनेट सेवाओं पर प्रतिबन्ध इस साल के सात महीनों में 55वां था । पर यह पहली बार है कि मोबाइल, ब्रॉडबैंड इन्टरनेट सेवाएं, लैंडलाइन और केबल टीवी सब एक साथ बंद किये गए, नतीजतन कश्मीर के अन्दर और बाहर संचार के हर प्रकार को काट दिया गया । 2012 से इन्टरनेट शटडाउन का हिसाब रख रहे सॉफ्टवेयर फ्रीडम लॉ सेण्टर (एसएफएलसी) की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार मोबाइल इन्टरनेट सेवाओं पर सबसे बड़ी अवधि का बैन 2016 में 08 जुलाई 2016 को बुरहान वाणी के मारे जाने के बाद विरोध प्रदर्शनों के समय रहा. तब मोबाइल इन्टरनेट सेवाएं 133 दिन बंद रहीं । एसएफएलसी ट्रैकर के अनुसार, "पोस्टपेड नम्बरों पर इन्टरनेट सेवाएं 19 नवम्बर 2016 को बहाल की गयीं, लेकिन प्रीपेड उपयोगकर्ताओं की मोबाइल सेवाएं जनवरी 2017 में ही बहाल की जा सकीं, अर्थात उन्होंने ल
